Hiker's Paradise
With thousands of miles of amazing trail systems stretching across the state, Colorado is a true hiker’s paradise. From Mount Herman Trailhead right here in Monument to beautiful Red Rock Canyon Open Space west of Old Colorado City, there are dozens of outdoor locations to explore.
Garden of the Gods
Whatever you do, don’t miss this one-of-a-kind national landmark located about 20 minutes south of Monument. Featuring amazing views of towering sandstone rock formations, this incredible outdoor space includes maintained hiking trails, picnic areas, museum, gift shop, and nature center.
US Air Force Academy
Located just a few miles south and west of Monument, the Air Force Academy is the place to go if you appreciate impressive modern architecture and wide-open outdoor spaces. Publicly accessible trails are well-maintained to provide hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians with a special experience.

For those with a taste for adventure, consider experiencing those gorgeous Front Range views from the basket of a hot air balloon! Also, if you happen to be visiting at the end of August, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the Labor Day Liftoff hot air balloon festival in Colorado Springs.
